In this section you will find useful information about the different ways to pay for your car rental reservation in Dominican Republic. We will attend your inquiries about payment methods such as: using debit cards, credit cards or third party authorizations.

Charges and refunds

How much will the pre-authorization be on my credit card or cash when I rent a vehicle?

The amount varies depending on the car rented. The minimum deposit to retain is US $300, plus the total days of rental.

*For units such as Jeeps, mini-vans and vans, the reimbursable amount to be retained is US $500, plus the total rental days.

How long does it take to refund the security deposit or pre-authorization?

Pre-authorization: Pre-authorization: Please note that this amount will not be charged to your account, it will only be blocked by your bank during your rental period, and at the end of the service, the amount will be unblocked.

Deposit: It is automatically refunded upon return of the vehicle. The refund to your card depends on your bank and may take 5 to 7 days. Please note that this amount is released to the account associated with the credit card used for the deposit.

What is the advantage of paying in advance?

The advantage of paying in advance on our website is that you can get a discount of 20%, guaranteeing the availability of the vehicle from the day of the reservation.

Can I rent from Volando Rent a Car without a credit card?

Generally, it is essential to have a credit card for the payment of the security deposit or for pre-authorization. However, the use of a credit card is not mandatory to rent from Volando Renta Car.

*Visa, Mastercard, American Express are accepted, and you must have these funds available for a hold, which will be released at the end of the rental. The amount withheld depends on the vehicle reserved and the days of rental. The customer can finalize the rental by paying cash in Dominican Pesos (RD$), Euros (EUR) or US Dollars (USD).

What are the different ways I can pay for my car rental?

Payment by Credit or Debit Card: Payment can be made with a credit/debit card (Visa/Visa Electron or Mastercard), either through our website or when picking up the vehicle. Please note that a deposit will be applied. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the rental if there is no further damage to the car.

Cash Payment: We accept cash for your car rental, and as a guarantee, you are required to leave a deposit for the applicable deductible on the vehicle delivered, either by credit card or cash.

2. Prices and Coverage

What is included in the rental price?

  • Unlimited mileage.
  • Applicable local taxes ITBIS (VAT/TAX).
  • Airport service. Office hours
  • Option to pay on arrival.
  • Liability insurance with (deductible)
  • Replacement car in case of accident.

Do I have to leave a deposit when I pick up the car, even if I pay by debit card?

Yes, you must leave a deposit to cover any eventuality. The amount may vary and depends on the car selected. This amount will be released upon return of the vehicle after checking for further damage.

Depending on the payment method chosen, different deposit conditions apply.

If payment is made with a credit or debit card: Depending on the car chosen, you must leave a deposit between USD 300 and USD 1000 from your credit card or in cash to guarantee the deductible and cover possible damages.

Does my insurance coverage from another company cover my rental at Volando Rent a CAR?

If you have purchased an annual policy or additional insurance/coverage with your credit card or travel agency, please note that this insurance/coverage is NOT provided directly by Volando Rent a Car.

Therefore, you are responsible for paying the amount of the deposit or any excess in the event of damage to the vehicle and for claiming reimbursement of this amount from the company with which you have purchased your insurance/coverage.

Can I travel with my rental car to another country?

Driving outside Dominican territory is prohibited.

What is not included in any coverage?

Loss of child seats.

Damage/loss/theft of keys, jack, safety triangles, vests, windshield wipers, fuel cap, trunk trays, or any other moving or fixed component of the vehicle.

Motor damage due to negligence.

Theft of the vehicle with the keys inside.

Traffic tickets or violations of the law during the rental period are the responsibility of the driver of the vehicle.

Loss/Damage/Theft of personal belongings.

3. Reservations

What is required to make a reservation?

To make a reservation, you need to have some documents at hand, which we will mention below. Please note that these documents must be valid at the time of booking:

  1. Passport/National ID
  2. Driver's License
  3. Credit/Debit Card or cash.

What is the cancellation policy and is there a charge?

You can cancel your reservation free of charge up to 7 days before picking up your car.

  • If you cancel your reservation with less than 7 days notice, a penalty of 100% will be applied on the prepaid amount. This penalty will also apply if the reservation is not used or if you do not meet the rental requirements.

Note: Remember that there are many people in our service inventory, so if you are not going to use the vehicle, allow someone else to do so.

  • In case of cancellation, you can choose a coupon to use on future occasions or a refund of your reservation.

Do I have to pay when making a reservation?

You must pay if you make your reservation through the website, by phone or email. This way, your reservation will be confirmed.

Can I reserve a specific model?

Yes, when you make your reservation in advance, we guarantee the model of your choice.

How can I know if my reservation is confirmed?

Your reservation will be confirmed once payment has been made through the website or if one of our authorized agents, whom you can find through our email/available contacts, among others, confirms it.
