In this section you will find useful information about the different payment methods for your car rental reservation. We will answer your questions about payment methods such as; using debit cards, credit cards or third party authorizations.
1. Charges and Refunds
How much will the pre-authorization on my credit card or cash be when I rent a vehicle?
The amount varies depending on the rented car. The minimum deposit to be retained is US $300, plus the total rental days.
*For units such as Jeeps, mini-vans, and vans, the refundable amount to be retained is US $500, plus the total rental days.
How long does it take to refund the security deposit or pre-authorization?
Pre-authorization: Please consider that this amount will not be charged to your account, it will only be blocked by your bank during your rental period, and at the end of the service, the amount will be unblocked.
Deposit: It is automatically refunded upon returning the vehicle. The refund to your card depends on your bank and may take between 5-7 days. Please note that this amount is released to the account associated with the credit card used for the deposit.
What is the advantage of paying in advance?
The advantage of making an advance payment on our website is that you can get a 20% discount, guaranteeing the availability of the vehicle from the day of the reservation.
Can I rent from Volando RENT A CAR without a credit card?
Generally, it is essential to have a credit card for the payment of the security deposit or for pre-authorization. However, the use of a credit card is not mandatory for renting from Volando Renta Car.
*Accepted: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and you must have these funds available for a hold, which will be released at the end of the rental. The hold amount depends on the reserved vehicle and the rental days. The customer can end the rental by paying in cash in Dominican Pesos (RD$), Euros (EUR), or US Dollars (USD).
What are the different ways I can pay for my car rental?
Credit or Debit Card Payment: Payment can be made with a credit/debit card (Visa/Visa Electron or Mastercard), either through our website or at the time of vehicle pick-up. Please note that there will be an applicable deposit. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the rental if no new damages occur to the car.
Cash Payment: We accept cash for your car rental, and as a guarantee, you are required to leave a deposit for the applicable deductible on the vehicle delivered via credit card OR cash.
2. Prices and Coverage
What is included in the rental price?
Unlimited mileage
Applicable local taxes ITBIS (VAT/TAX).
Airport service. Office hours
Option to pay upon arrival.
Liability insurance with (deductible)
Replacement car in case of an accident.
Do I have to leave a deposit when picking up the car? Even if I pay with a debit card?
Yes, you must leave a deposit to cover any eventualities. The amount may vary and depends on the selected car. This amount will be released upon the return of the vehicle after checking for any new damages.
Depending on the chosen payment method, different conditions apply for the deposit.
If payment is made with a credit or debit card: Depending on the chosen car, you must leave a deposit between USD 300 – USD 1000 from your credit card or cash to guarantee the deductible and cover possible damages.
Does my insurance from another company cover my rental at Volando Rent a CAR?
If you have purchased an annual policy or additional insurance/coverage with your credit card or travel agency, please note that this insurance/coverage is NOT provided directly by Volando Rent a Car.
Therefore, you are responsible for paying the deposit amount or any excess in case of damage to the vehicle and claiming reimbursement of this amount from the company from which you have purchased your insurance/coverage.
Can I travel with my rental car to another country?
Driving outside the Dominican territory is prohibited.
What is not included in any coverage?
Loss of child seats.
Damage/Loss/Theft of keys, jack, safety triangles, vests, windshield wipers, fuel cap, trunk trays, or any other movable or fixed component of the vehicle.
Engine damage due to negligence.
Theft of the vehicle with the keys inside.
Traffic fines or violations of laws during the rental period are the responsibility of the vehicle driver.
Loss/Damage/Theft of personal belongings.
3. Reservations
What is necessary to make a reservation?
To make a reservation, you need to have some documents at hand, which we will mention below. It is necessary to take into account that these documents must be valid at the time of reservation:
- National ID/Passport
- Driver’s License
- Credit/Debit Card or Cash
What is the cancellation policy? Is there any charge?
You can cancel your reservation for free up to 7 days before picking up your car.
- If you cancel your reservation with less than 7 days’ notice, a penalty of 100% will be applied to the prepaid amount. This penalty will also be applied if the reservation is not used or if you do not meet the rental requirements.
Note: Remember that there are many people in our service stock, so if you are not going to use the vehicle, allow someone else to do so.
- In case of cancellation, you can choose a coupon to use for future occasions or a refund of your reservation.
Do I have to pay when making a reservation?
You must pay if you make the reservation through the website, by phone, or email. This way, your reservation will be confirmed.
Can I reserve a specific model?
Yes, by making your reservation in advance, we guarantee the model of your choice.
How do I know if my reservation is confirmed?
Your reservation will be confirmed once payment has been made through the website or if one of our authorized agents, whom you can find through our available email/contacts, among others.
